Anthem

“I was 14 years old when I wrote a song about Bánk; because I loved it there and couldn’t wait for summer to come again. One of my camp friends heard it and said, ‘You know what? That should be our anthem!’ I sang the song to the whole camp and they learned it in no time. Years later, when my son Gábor became a citizen of Pipecland, I arrived in Bánk one August 20th, and before the big holiday show got underway, everyone stood up and sang the ‘anthem’ – the anthem that I had written. I can’t even describe what a feeling that was to me, as an adult of nearly thirty. Sixteen years had passed, but you know, Bánk was still alive, keeping its traditions, and it still hadn’t forgotten me.” (Andrea “Baby Andi” Körner)
